Today I want to introduce you to my all time favorite cocktail- The Hot Hound. Think Spicy Greyhound. It’s filled with freshly squeezed Grapefruit juice, simple syrup, muddled jalapeños, lime juice, and vodka.
Option to garnish with mint or rosemary and get to summertime sipping’.
THIS POST IS SPONSORED BY DEXAS. THANK YOU FOR BRINGING THE HOT HOUND INTO THE PUBLIC EYE!!
This is a cocktail we’ve been making for years, and I honestly cannot believe it’s just now going up on the blog! It will literally blow your socks off. It’s just beyond refreshing.
My brother in law has always loved greyhounds, and one year on New Years Day, we were experimenting and lo and behold the HOT HOUND was invented. Praise be.
It’s seriously the most refreshing cocktail of all time. I know that sounds extreme and maybe you think I’m exaggerating, but it’s truly that good. Goes down a lil too smooth if you know what I mean..
For all of my cocktails lately, I’ve been using my Dexas Iceology Clear Ice Cube Trays. Think fancy cocktail ice at home! It simply (and quickly!) removes impurities and bubbles during the freezing process, resulting in crystal clear ice for all of your summertime bevs.
I love that you don’t have to use purified water in these ice cube trays because it removes the impurities for you! Plus, you get insanely clear ice and it’s perfect for cocktail making!!
The key to this cocktail is freshly squeezed grapefruit juice. It makes all the difference in the world and only takes an extra 5-10 minutes.
Also, homemade simple syrup.. No need to buy that store-bought stuff!
What is simple Syrup you ask?
All it is is equal parts sugar and water. Don’t let the name intimidate you- it’s only 2 ingredients and takes just about 5 minutes to whip up.
Take equal parts sugar + water and add to a medium sized sauce pan. Bring to a boil and stir until sugar is dissolved. Let it cool, and voila! It should last in the fridge for about 3-4 weeks if stored in a mason jar.
And just like that- you’re ready to make cocktails, my friend!!
I want to thank my friends at Dexas again for sponsoring this post. If you are in need of affordable, easy to use, and amazing kitchenware, I would highly recommend Dexas products! I’ve been using them for about 7 months now and still love them so much!
